You will have the pleasure to meet most or all of our team from your very first appointment, to surgery and beyond. All of our staff members will ensure all your questions are answered, and they will make certain you will feel comfortable and welcome in our Des Moines, Iowa plastic surgery practice.
Carol is a certified medical assistant who specializes in cosmetic tattooing, tattooing of the breast post reconstruction, and is trained in microdermabrasion, laser hair removal and skin resurfacing. She has worked with Dr. Schurman for more than ten years and has been a caring and compassionate nurse with The Iowa Clinic since 2000. In addition to her plastic surgery experience, Carol has experience in orthopaedics and family practice.
Joyce has been a receptionist for 17 years in the plastic and reconstructive surgery field. She has the utmost respect, understanding and compassion for each individual patient no matter the need. She always strives to make the office process flow as smooth as possible in order to maximize the patient experience.
Katie is a billing and coding specialist with The Iowa Clinic and has been with the Plastic Surgery Department for six years working in all aspects of the clinic. Katie understands that each patient's financial needs are different and is willing to spend time with the patient to help them with all of their cosmetic financial needs.
Angela is a registered nurse who performs microdermabrasion and laser hair removal. She is a dedicated float nurse within the department, getting the opportunity to work with all four plastic surgeons.
Over the course of the past 16 years Joni has worked with and assisted Dr. Yen in surgery. She is a surgical tech with more than 30 years of experience, and has been with The Iowa Clinic since 1994. Joni will take care of the patient every step of the way, beginning from the first consultation, through surgery and into the post-operative period.
Shari is a Registered Nurse who began her career in plastic/reconstructive surgery/burns nearly 20 years ago. She has been a dedicated nurse with The Iowa Clinic for 7 years and is Dr. Lekkas'
private nurse. Shari specializes in laser spider vein/vascular lesion removal and laser hair removal. She has been performing cosmetic and medical areola tattooing for 6 years. In addition, Shari has specialized training in microdermabrasion and is skilled in skin care and skin peels. She is a certified wound specialist and member of the American Association of Plastic Surgery Nurses. Shari enjoys every aspect of her career, but states that her true passion is caring for breast cancer patients - whom she considers her hero's - throughout their breast reconstruction process.
Trudi has been a dedicated registered nurse since 1991, and has worked for The Iowa Clinic Plastic Surgery and Dr. Reece for the past six years. She is truly committed to her patients and welcomes the opportunity to serve you.
Deann is the department manager and her passion is excellence in customer service. She is dedicated to ensuring the best possible customer experience starting from the initial phone call and consultation through the follow up visit. She is proud to work with such an excellent group of surgeons and dedicated staff.
